The innovative solution will refine express delivery services available in the country promising to offer lower rates in comparison to traditional delivery system

EHang, a Chinese company specializing in developing intelligent autonomous aerial vehicles (AAV), together with JD.com and ZTO have jointly formulated the Standard for express delivery service in unmanned aircrafts. The Standard was issued by the State Post Bureau of PRC and came into force on 1 January 2021.

The new air logistics services will utilize two types of AAV: falcon, which was produced specifically for short distances with a maximum takeoff weight of 5kg, as well as the heavy-lift EH216L model that was created for long-distance deliveries that can be loaded to a total weight of 150 kg. The Standard also emphasizes a speed limit of 100 km/h.

The newly issued Standard is China’s first industry standard for express delivery services by autonomous aircrafts. EHang, the leading AAV innovator, plans to continue to promote the development of intelligent aerial logistics and believes the new technological advances will exceed the needs of retail, e-commerce, as well as offshore oil and gas industries.
